Happy Sunday guys!
How has your week been? And what are your plans for the week ahead?
This week strong emotions have surfaced in my life – It caught me by surprise and it left me feeling pretty confused and unsure of myself. It was my cycle –coming up on that time of the month; my hormones affect my mood dramatically and it was also probably due to the intense energy surrounding us this month of August especially with the energy that is fast approaching from the solar eclipse that is happening tomorrow.
As I only recently found out that I am an empath, I’m still trying to learn how to set boundaries and protect my energy from being absorbed. I am also learning to put up a filter system to not let the energy of other people & the people close to me affect me so much; and with all this I am learning how to discern which emotions are mine and which aren’t. So, I have started paying mindful attention to the energy that is truly coming from me. I have also started to regularly check the moon cycle and astrology forecasts to pay attention to the energy that is around us.
The astrology forecast from omtimes.com, explains the first three weeks of the month (of August):
“More immediately noticeable in the first three weeks: Dramatic action and reaction are the general order of things, with warrior god Mars accompanying the Sun till he enters Virgo on the 22nd. This traveling pair is a double-dose of the masculine archetype, firing up courage, assertiveness, aggression, combativeness, and anger.”
They have also mentioned about patience being in short supply:
“With retrograde Mercury spawning misunderstandings and misstatements (and, alright, lies), it’ll be easy to react without confronting peaceably and unraveling the snarl. Patience will be in short supply. Tempers will flare. Be mindful of who and what are in your line of fire.”
The energy that surrounds us affects us all in different and unique ways and something that we could do to be able to NOT be knocked off our feet by negative energies or strong emotions that may come with the intense energy that is within and around us is to try and connect with ourselves through meditation and some grounding techniques.
Let’s give ourselves the time that we deserve with some peace and quiet (even for just 30 minutes of the day) and hopefully it helps you as it helps me when I try to check in with myself on how I am truly feeling, how my thoughts are affecting me, what’s been bothering me, and what I could do to help myself emotionally, mentally and physically.

The first on my list is meditation, it is an amazing tool that helps me stay calm, be true to myself and be present in whatever I do that day. If you have been wanting to try meditation but don’t know where to start my sister blogged about 5 easy steps to help you start a meditation practice: https://xowilton.com/2017/06/05/5-helpful-tips-on-meditation/
Another amazing thing that I have only discovered through my recent travel to Cambodia is a grounding technique. In the Spiritual Energy Retreat that I have attended, I have definitely benefitted and truly enjoyed walking barefoot all day. We would do karmic yoga meditation barefoot in the garden; feeling the coolness of the soil after a rainy morning, feeling the warmth of the soil on a sunny afternoon and feeling the leaves, grass and some ants in between your toes.
I learned that it’s one grounding technique that’s also called “earthing”.
Grounding (from an educational resource on peirsac.com) is a technique that helps keep someone in the present. It can help reorient a person to the here-and-now and in reality. It helps a person to take notice of the present moment. Grounding techniques can be helpful when we are dealing with overwhelming feelings or intense anxiety. It can help someone to regain their mental focus from an often intensely emotional state.
Earthing, one of the grounding techniques is walking barefoot on soil, grass or sand (any natural surface). I have read that some early studies are showing that the health benefits come from the relationship between our bodies and the electrons in the earth. The planet has its own natural charge, and we seem to do better when we’re in direct contact with it.
“The Earth is a conductor or free electrons and so are all living things on the planet, including us. The body is composed of mostly of water and minerals, which in combination are excellent conductors of electrons from the Earth providing there is direct skin contact or some other conductive channel for them to flow through.”

Walking barefoot all day immediately made me feel centered, balanced and reconnected with nature and everything around me. 🌞🌱 Positive energy flooded my system and I felt so happy. I felt the soil was cool and fresh underneath my feet after a morning drizzle, the warmth when it’s sunny and I felt ants & the grass between my toes. It made me appreciate what’s around me, what’s in me and the souls with me.
Yoga, as most of you know is seen by many as a great exercise to practice to assist you to be physically healthy but it is also used for meditation that assists your mind to be healthy and calm. So if you practice yoga, here are some poses that are helpful in grounding (both mentally and physically), which you can incorporate when you do earthing:
Mountain Pose (Tadasana)
Tree Pose (Vrksasana)
Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
If we tune in to what our body and minds deeply need we will learn that we desperately yearn for a healthy connection to nature and to the earth. This type of connection nurtures us, it keeps us energized and connected; it reminds us what an immaculate world we have around us. When we stop and connect we will be able to see that the universe and mother nature gives us an abundance of blessings and gifts…
As humans, we get so busy with life; sometimes life gets too chaotic and sometimes our emotions or may it be the negative energy that surrounds us gets the better of us and we are blinded from all the good things that we have in our life. We spend far too much time isolated in our man-made environments and don’t notice how disconnected we are from the outside world.
So, when’s the last time you truly connected with yourself, with nature? When’s the last time you reflected on all the things that you’re grateful for?
Why not make an appointment with yourself tomorrow and start the week with calm and positive energy?
Sit in a quiet place by yourself when you start your day or maybe try walking barefoot in your garden, or do some yoga poses outside your home. Let’s take this time to connect and be mindful.
