A little history lesson about Rumi :
He was a 13th-century Persian, Sunni, Muslim poet, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic. He was born in Afghanistan and later settled in Konya, in present-day Turkey, with his family.
Rumi continued his theological education in Syria, where he studied the more traditional legal codes of Sunni Islam, and later returned to Konya as a seminary teacher.
Rumi’s influence transcends national borders and ethnic divisions: Iranians, Tajiks, Turks, Greeks, Pashtuns, other Central Asian Muslims, and the Muslims of South Asia have greatly appreciated his spiritual legacy for the past seven centuries. He is one of the most beloved poets all over the world.
Why? because Rumi has a way of speaking from the heart that transcends to our hearts. His words radiate self-love, love for others and compassion in humanity.
His words guide us to look within ourselves where we can find the treasures we are searching for. He teaches us to follow our intuition, trust ourselves and that in everything, love is the way.
Here are 25 quotes from Rumi that teaches us to trust in ourselves:
I know you’re tired but come, this is the way.
Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?
In your light, I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.
These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.
If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished?
Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.
Everyone has been made for some particular work and the desire for that work has been put in every heart.
Raise your words not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers not thunder.
Know that one day, your pain will become your cure.
It’s your road and yours alone others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.
Have you ever felt lost, so lost that you had no idea what to do with your life, where to go, or who you are at the moment?
Have you ever had those moments where you’re suddenly just not sure of yourself?
Or maybe it’s one of those dark days where self-doubt slowly creeps in…
I have been battling with self doubt my entire life, and more so this past year and a half. But I am slowly learning to trust myself and the process… It is not an easy task, but a dear friend told me it is possible and it will get easier.
Reading quotes like these is not meant to answer our problems in an instant, but in days where you have nothing to hold on to… I hope these words can serve as a light in the dark.
As sir Albus Dumbledore once said “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
I dedicate this post to all my friends and loved ones who are feeling lost at the moment. This is not forever, you and I know that this will not last. And I trust that this time is molding us into something so great. And in a few years, when we look back to this, we will smile with our hearts because we will understand why this had to happen.
I am sending love and light your way.
You are in my heart and mind, always.
And I hope you know that we will grow through this and we will be better than yesterday. ❤
